Kansas City

Ok so a while back my sister and I got a wild hair and decided to go up to Kansas City. It was supposed to be a day trip and then we decided that we would spend the night. We had a blast! Me being the organized person that I am made a map of what we were doing and map quested every stitch of directions. We drove up there and spent the night at Hotel Phillips. When we got there we cracked up laughing because the guy working the desk in the hotel lobby had hair that looked like the lead singer of Flock of Seagulls. My sis took his picture but we were laughing so hard that it is a little bit blurry but you get the idea! After checking in we went to eat dinner at Bucca Di Beppo. Hello! That is some serious Italian food. They serve in family size portions and way more that anyone could ever eat. So there are a few pics of us eating there...Teri's lasagna...again we were laughing because even after eating it there was still too much to fit into the carry out container! There was a thunderstorm that rolled through in the night that woke my sis up and she decided to try to catch some pics of the lightening...she didn't get that but I thought her shots of the city at night were great! Then next day we woke up and drove to Legends shopping area. Here we found this fun little yellow brick road...of course we stopped for a photo op! I have seen a lot of people taking pictures jumping and so I thought it would be fun to do that. Teri didn't want to jump...she just wanted to photograph me looking weird jumping...hee hee! Before we left the Legends area we stopped by this Mexican restaurant and yep...that's Teri's legs under that dude with the sombrero! Then we stopped in at Cabala's outdoor store. And naturally...I had to put a hat on. Again we were laughing...I couldn't keep a straight face when she took these pictures! We had a good time...lots of laughing.

Funnest Birthday

My sister needed a card for a friend of hers and this is what I came up with. I have used this cherry paper before. It is amazing how far your scraps can go when you just need a small square! If you click on the photo you can get a close up view of the cake, I used a little bit of stickles on the green icing...just wanted to add a little bit of bling.
In other news I am still thinking about my friends at Scrapbook Garden East. I know this is a difficult time for you and I wish I could make everything better for you but just know that I am thinking of you and any time you need a margarita...I am here for ya baby! Sarah I am so proud of you for being your spunky little self today!
Thanks for peekin' in...hope you have a great weekend!

Heavy Heart

Hi Friends. I have a heavy heart this evening. I drove to Scrapbook Garden just as I do every Thursday night to work my little shift. When I arrived at the store there was a strange feeling in the air. I knew there was a meeting but I didn't know that I was to be included in that meeting, I thought it would be a meeting for the managers. There were several customers in the store and one of the owners walked up to the customer closest to me and asked her to leave, here is a gift certificate for the inconvenience just take all of the stuff in your basket we are closing the store for a meeting. She didn't understand, he repeated himself and told her to go ahead and take the things in her basket, that she didn't have to pay for them they were closing the store. I found this very odd. The rest of us kept looking at each other in disbelief of what just occurred. We were then all asked to go to the back room for a meeting. As he read from a piece of paper we were told that effective immediately the East store was closed. All of the merchandise would be sent over to the West store over the next week and the staff would help to do this and stock the inventory at the West store. There might be positions available at the West store but hours could not be guaranteed. So there you have it. I sat there thinking about my co-workers that work there full time. They are out of work now. How would they make ends meet? I know the economy is doing poorly right now and this probably happens a lot more than we know but I have never been through something like this before. What an eye opener!
Please keep my friends in your prayers tonight.

Happy Bug Day

I had this left over bug paper from a scrapbook project and really wanted to use it on a card some how. Our Godson's birthday is coming up this month and I thought bugs would be a fun thing for him. I hope he likes it. I have a bit more paper left over so I think I am going to try to put another one together maybe a bit different design.
Thanks for checkin' in on me. Hope you're having a great week!

Hot Mama!

Check this hottie out! It was love at first sight when I saw this motorcycle mama and I couldn't wait to get her inked up! I used Prismacolor markers to color her and I dug through my scrap paper stash to accent the card. Thanks for peekin' in. Talk to you soon friend!

Mongramming Fun

Have you noticed that there seems to be a monogramming craze in the card making world? There are these really cool stamps by Just Rite that first caught my eye, but I have put myself on a budget with crafting things for a while. So one day while working at Scrapbook Garden our owners put some of their rubber stamps on clearance 50% off! Hello! I got an alphabet set and this fun little border set for the price of one...which was much cheaper than the Just Rite stamps. Last night I decided to ink these little babies up. Not too bad! Wanna know the best part? The paper I used is all from scraps of other projects...man I feel so efficient! Doesn't that give you a good feeling when you are using every little bit of your supplies? Kinda like eating leftovers but way more fun! Well hope you are all having a good week and not worrying about the economy too much! Sheesh this is a really crazy time we are living in huh? Thanks for peakin' in!

Summer Days

Here is a layout that I did of the girls. My friend Lynette took these pictures of the girls one Saturday afternoon last year. I had to teach a class at Scrapbook Garden and I dropped the kids off at a kids scrapbook class at the Rivercity Rubber Works barn (which isn't there anymore...darn it!) and after the class Lynette picked them up and took them to her house and monkeyed around with them in her yard taking pictures. After my class we had lunch together and she gave me these pictures! What a treat!

Here's my page recipe: I am not sure what brand the patterned paper is. Nikki picked it up for me at a scrapbook store in St. Louis...thanks Nik! See the turquoise furry looking paper on the first page? That's mulberry paper. I don't use it very often but I thought it would be fun on this layout. I just dipped my finger in water and traced along the edge of the mulberry paper and pulled it apart. It makes that really cool feathered edge when you are finished. I layered the pattered paper on the perfect plum shade of Bo-Bunny's double sided dot cardstock. Love that cardstock. They have so many colors to choose from! The flower is one of those giant Heidi Swapp flowers...which I am sad to say they will not be manufacturing any more. So if you like them you better buy them up cuz when they're gone they're gone! Anyway, the rubons that I used are from Basic Grey, I have had them for a while so I am not sure if you can still get them or not.

It's amazing how quickly kids change in a year's time! Well it is simply gorgeous out today...hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Later friends!
