Sympathy Card

"Through His healing touch will flow Spirit. His gentle touch will assure guidance. His strong & helping hand will support you." The inside says "You are in our thoughts and prayers" This card is simple yet elegant...a friend of Haley's lost her Grandma a few weeks ago and we wanted to make a card to let them know we are keeping them in our prayers. I used an embossing folder with the cuttlebug for the bottom part of the card. The verse on the stamp is from Rivercity Rubberworks you can check them out here. They have some fun stuff and some off the wall stuff too but they are a great group of gals. Any who my honey and I have the evening too ourselves so we are off to watch CSI Miami...wahoo!!

Life in the fast lane

No parent should ever have to scrap a layout like this. Mike's son Thomas was driving to his girlfriend's work to walk her to her car after she got off (she worked a late shift). He was about a mile from her job and was hit by a Ford Expedition...and the driver kept going (we later found out that it was a stolen vehicle). You can see by the picture that his car was pretty smashed up. If he would have had a passenger they might not have made it. We got the call around 1 am to go to the hospital. Tons of things run through your mind while you are driving...the ER doesn't tell you anything they just tell you to get there. Mike brought him home to our house to rest...I washed his hair in the kitchen sink and picked the rest of the windshield glass from his hair...poor kid was trying to handle it the best he could. The next day Mike went out to look at the car at the salvage yard; he had a really hard time holding the tears back. The Lord has a plan for this kid...he could have died...but he was spared. The car was smashed in to the drivers seat...he had to crawl out the roof to get out. Thomas is not a prayerful or religious kid by any means, (which makes me sad but he has to find his own way all I can do is pray for him) he was baptised catholic but is not practicing. When Mike cleaned out the car their was a rosary under his seat...the drivers seat. Thomas has no idea where that came from...it wasn't his. Mike and I are convinced that it is a sign from the Lord. We are so very thankful that our boy is alright. This was in 2004, since then he has moved to Seattle and is having the time of his life. We miss him so much!

Accomplishment

This weekend Haley took a babysitting class at the American Red Cross downtown. I was a little nervous for her because she didn't know anyone, but I was so proud of her because she didn't say one thing about being nervous. She was very excited to take the class. There were 9 girls from all around the city that were in class. When I came to pick her up she said "Mom...Mom come in here I want you to meet all the girls!" She made friends with all the girls in class and they all exchanged phone numbers and email addresses! I don't know why I was so worried. I guess because I remember being that age once and feeling a little nervous when I didn't know anyone. But she did great! She has her first baby sitting job next Monday evening for a couple of hours. Did I say I was proud of her? I know I did but I just can't believe my baby is growing up so fast!

Hang In There

Isn't this little guy cute? I made it for the son of a gal I work with. He went snow skiing with his family and fractured his shoulder*OUCH*. I thought this little hanging monkey would cheer him up. The inside is stamped Hang In There! I used the traffic jam embossing folder for the green backgound. The monkey stamp is from Stampendous.

Grandpa

I was cleaning my scrapbook room tonight and came across this picture of my grandpa. This picture reminds me of so many things about him. Of coarse this was a picture of a much younger man then I remember...I can see why grandma fell in love with him! He was so hard working, never afraid to try something new. He lived in a small town all his life, raised his family in one too. I always remember as a kid getting butterflies in my stomach the closer we got to grandma and grandpa's farm house. They lived 5 hours away from us and it was a real treat to spend time with them. They were always so happy to see us when we came and when it was time to go they would stand in their drive way and watch us drive away until they couldn't see our car any more. What I wouldn't give to spend some time with them again. Oh the conversations we could have! If you still have a grandparent cherish every moment you have left with them...they are a beautiful blessing.

No Ordinary Picture Frame

Anyone can have a photo frame at their desk...but why when there are so many creative ways to show off your family? (At least that is my opinion) I have been working on this little project off and on the last few nights and am finally ready to take it to work tomorrow (so stinkin' excited!) At a glance it is kinda hard to tell but it is a 12x12 clipboard. I used photo corners so that I can change out the photos when I want to.
Sheesh...I am so glad tomorrow is Friday...aren't you? Hope you have a great day!

Valentine's Dinner

Here is our traditional Valentine's day dinner...and it wouldn't be complete with out the heart shaped pizza. This year I asked our favorite pizza restaurant, Knolla's, if they could make a heart shaped pizza for us, he said he would do the best he could...I think it turned out great, don't you?

Fall Layout

This is a layout I did over the weekend of the girls from 2005 playin' in the leaves over at my mom and dad's house. The colors of their shirts were so vibrant I didn't want to use the traditional fall colored paper.

I scrapbooked with a couple of friends on Friday night. I had a game plan. There is a whole stack of pictures that I matched paper to and I was bound and determined to finish as much as possible. I got 10 pages done and the rest of the weekend I am going to add the embellishments to the pages. I think this is a good way to go about it.

Have a great Sunday!

L-O-V-E

This is a book that I did as a donation for a silent auction for the Heart Association's annual Heart Gala Fundraiser. Their colors this year are pink and brown and I thought this little book was perfect! This is another Bo Bunny chipboard word book and all the paper is Bo Bunny also. I just loved the way this turned out and I almost didn't want to give it away!

Memories Frame

I found this great frame at Kohl's on sale before Christmas. I knew exactly what I was going to do with it I just needed things to simmer down from Christmas a bit. This is a photo of Mike when he was a little boy...yep...that's me to the right...ain't we cute? I finishd this last night and when I showed Mike he got teared up...he is so sweet...he probably won't like it that I told the world he got teared up...oh well! Besides women love to hear that kinda stuff! My photo was from the 70's and we all know they used crappy paper back then so I had to photoshop my pic before it was suitable for the frame. Well, I am off to finish another project and tuck the kiddos in bed.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my Dad's Birthday! He loves K-State so guess what the theme of the party was? Yup...the power cat...purple all the way baby! Here is a card that I made for him with the KSU power cat. The Happy Birthday is an embossing folder that I use with my cuttlebug. I also used the SU scalloped punch, then hammered the edges of a bottle cap down a bit and topped it off with a silver cat in the middle. I made the frame too... and after we took pictures tonight (by the way, my 12 yr old took this picture...humm...is there some hidden talent there?) I printed this one out of my sister and I (Dad wanted it for his desk at work...aww ain't that sweet?) We had a great time and I am sure he did too! Thanks for peeking in...have a great evening!

One cute little boy

I took this picture of our godson at thanksgiving and realized when I printed it that I made a picture frame that would be so perfect for it. I picked up the frame at Michael's for $1 and then covered it with scrapbook paper (I used mod podge as the adhesive and sealer) and then hot glued the little wooden froggie on. I found the frog at Hobby Lobby for $.59! This was a super cheap project but great results!

Love Bug

Here is my version of the love bug! These are Bazzil chipboard tags that I painted red to look like lady bugs. I used wire for the antenna. I just kept twisting the wire until it was tight and formed it the way I wanted. I am working on several other projects and I am running out of weekend! Isn't that how it always is? At least it's not snowing!
